My Role:

I worked as a UX/UI designer with the product manager and two other UX/UI designers to identify the project goals.

Duration:

6 weeks

- Opportunity

To increase student engagement in civil elections and inform them about the candidates' platforms, and emphasize the impact their vote can have

- Solution

To enhance student participation in civil elections

One way to encourage students to vote is to provide them with convenient and accessible voting options, such as early voting, mail-in ballots, and on-campus voting booths. Additionally, offering voter education programs and resources can help students better understand the importance of their vote and the voting process.

- Client Interview

Defining the usability problems and project objectives for the VoteSC website

We interviewed the VoteSC co-presidents to identify areas for improvement and to define usability issues  on their website.

  1. Improve information Hierarchy.
  2. Applying the USC color scheme to create a modern and sleek look applying responsive design.
  3. Consolidate navigation bar Items.
  4. Reduce clutter on pages.
  5. Make register button more accessible.
  6. Inclusivity for different languages.
- Problem

Issues with the website's functionality and user experience

  1. The website fails to reach a broader audience due to its crowded information and language barriers.
  2. The website lacks interactive elements, causing users to lose interest and engagement.
  3. The website lacks clear calls-to-action, making it difficult for users to take desired actions such as registering or fundraising.
- Design Process

Identify possibilities for improving the product's design through interviews with the client

Given the tight timeframe for the website's rebranding and redesign, it was essential to gather feedback from both the client and users through past feedback they had collected.

To ensure the project was completed within the given timeline, I employed a combination of design systems, client interviews, information architecture, wireframing, and competitor analysis. This approach helped me gain valuable insights into the specific requirements of various user segments.

- Branding

Incorporating the USC color scheme into the VoteSC rebranding

I collaborated with a product manager and two other designers to redesign the website's branding, ensuring it aligned with USC's color palette and theme

- Final Product

VoteSC strives to make voting fun and engaging for all

VoteSC's rebranding efforts have focused on creating an interactive platform that presents voting information in an entertaining and engaging manner for students. The updated color scheme and illustrations not only add a fresh look to the site but also make it more visually appealing and easier to navigate.

Having the ability to persuade both clients and fellow designers is a crucial skill as a designer

While working on branding the website theme, we faced a minor conflict in choosing the color palette. Through this experience, I realized the importance of effectively communicating and persuading both clients and fellow designers, ensuring that my design choices are well-received and understood.
